Compliance Audit Committee

The City of Burlington, the Town of Oakville, the Town of Halton Hills, and the Regional Municipality of Halton have established a Joint Compliance Audit Committee for 2018-2022. This Committee is required by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (the Act) to: Consider applications for compliance audit of the campaign finances of Candidates and/or Registered Third Parties and decide whether they should be granted or rejected. If an application is granted, appoint an Auditor to conduct a compliance audit of the Candidate’s and/or Registered Third Party’s election campaign finances Consider the Auditor’s report and if the report contains a conclusion of apparent contravention of the Act, decide whether to commence a legal proceeding against the Candidate and/or Registered Third Party for the apparent contravention Receive and consider report(s) from the Clerk identifying any contributors to a Candidate and/or Registered Third Party who appear to have contravened established contribution limits and decide whether to commence a legal proceeding against the contributor for the apparent contravention Decisions of the Compliance Audit Committee can be found here: https://www.burlington.ca/en/your-city/joint-compliance-audit-committee.asp

Integrated Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting

The Integrated Transportation Advisory Committee (ITAC) is established as an advisory committee to Burlington City Council. This umbrella advisory committee will focus on all forms of transportation in the community including pedestrian, cycling, transit and driving. Provide comprehensive and coordinated input to Council and staff on policies, initiatives and strategies affecting transportation including but not limited to: road safety, cycling and transit services. Develop an annual workplan and communication plan and related budget that meet the mandate of the committee. Keep current on Council-approved policies that may impact the Committee. Provide comments on City of Burlington Master Plans pertaining to transportation/transit issues. Report through the Development and Infrastructure Committee to Council of an annual report. Burlington Mundialization Committee

The Burlington Mundialization Committee is a citizen committee reporting to Council through the Committee of the Whole. In 1984, a Mundialization Committee of volunteer citizens was formed in Burlington to pursue twinning with another country. A by-law was passed in 1985 to declare Burlington a "World Community" dedicated to international co-operation (mundialization) and that the City of Burlington, as part of its Mundialization program, proceed: (a) to undertake a twinning program with a municipality in another country, and (b) to fly the United Nations flag with the Canadian flag from City Hall at all times. On May 12, 1989, Mayor Bird signed a twinning agreement with Mayor Kurihara of Itabashi, Japan. On May 6, 2005, Mayor MacIsaac signed a twinning agreement with Mayor de Graaf of Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. For any additional information, please see www.Burlington.ca/mund
