By March 2020, Burlington City Council will vote to endorse changes to the policies in Burlington’s adopted Official Plan that will guide new development in the downtown until 2031, including the height and density of buildings.
To assist Council in making their decision, the City is committed to leading an open and transparent public engagement process to ensure the voices of people from every corner of the city are heard and valued.
Thank you to everyone who shared their input in August and September during the first phase of public engagement. You told us what matters most to you about the downtown and we’ve used that information to create two concepts of what the downtown could look like in the future.
In the second phase of public engagement, let’s keep the conversation going by telling us what you like and don’t like about the two concepts.
The City will be hosting a number of engagement opportunities in October, including a walking tour of downtown Burlington.
Led by a City staff member, the walking tour will provide participants with an opportunity to:
1. See first-hand the areas of downtown that are being looked at as part of the re-examination of the adopted Official Plan
2. Experience what mid and tall rise buildings feel like from the street, when walking through the downtown.
Once participants have had the chance to experience the downtown, we encourage them to share their feedback at an Action Lab or through the online survey at www.getinvolvedburlington.ca.
