About

The City of Burlington has received a proposal from Burlington Economic Development to adopt a Burlington Brownfield Focus Community Improvement Plan (CIP) on the areas as shown on the image attached (view online here). The purpose of this proposal is to adopt the Burlington Brownfield Focus CIP. The identified properties and boundaries would be prioritized within a CIP in order to achieve municipal economic development goals. Provincial legislations enable municipalities to adopt a CIP, City Council as authority under Section 17 of the Planning Act to adopt a CIP. A CIP offers financial incentive programs to the private sector to stimulate investment in projects that support local community renewal objectives and strategies. The incentives help offset a portion of project costs related to redevelopment, reuse and rehabilitation of the built environment, and brownfield remediation.

Looking for more information?

Get more information about the proposed CIP at www.InvestBurlington.ca/BrownfieldCIP. A copy of the proposed CIP is available by appointment only for inspection at the Clerks Department Front Counter, 1st floor, City Hall, during regular business hours. Please e-mail clerks@burlington.ca if you would like to book an appointment.

If you wish to be notified of the adoption of the proposed Burlington Brownfield Focus CIP, you must make a written request to Jo-Anne Rudy, Committee Clerk, City of Burlington, City Hall, 426 Brant Street, P.O. Box 5013, Burlington, Ontario, L7R 3Z6.
