Open House and Information Meeting regarding the proposed expansion of the Mount Nemo Quarry hosted by Nelson Aggregates
Nelson Aggregates will be hosting an Open House and Information Meeting regarding the proposed expansion of the Mount Nemo Quarry.
Nelson Aggregates is preparing applications under the Aggregate Resources Act, Planning Act and Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act to expand the existing quarry. Please note that no applications have been submitted at this time.
The proposed west quarry extension (which currently contains the Burlington Springs Gold Club) is located at 5235 Cedar Springs Road. The proposed south quarry extension encompasses five properties at 2280, 2292, 2300, 2316 and 2330 No. 2 Side Road which currently contain agricultural and residential uses. The sketch below illustrates the boundaries of the proposed quarry extensions.
Doors will open at 3:00pm with an opportunity to review display panels prepared by Nelson Aggregates and talk one-on-one with Nelson staff and City representatives. A formal presentation will take place starting at 6:30pm. During the meeting, City Planning staff will provide an overview of the
quarry expansion review process, as well as the current Provincial,
Regional and Local planning policies in effect on the site. Nelson
Aggregates will provide an overview of their quarry expansion plans.
Councillor Nisan and the Mayor will be in attendance to listen to your
input.
