The City of Burlington’s updated draft Community Engagement Charter is now ready for review before being finalized. Comments and feedback will be accepted until Sept 15, 2024.
The City has used public feedback on the original Charter to create this draft.
To date we have engaged with a variety of groups and individuals such as residents, City staff, Members of Council, community groups, local businesses, Council appointed Committees, faith-based groups, youth, newcomers and past members of the Charter Action Team. Staff also sought input at the Food for Feedback event and the Appleby Line Street Festival in fall 2023.
Please review some of the proposed changes or updates based on what we heard before reviewing the draft document.
Check out the quick poll and tell us what word (Resident, Citizen or Community Member) should be used in the Engagement Charter and Framework.
During the engagement, we heard a lot of great ideas on how to make engagement better in Burlington. Take a quick survey and tell us your top 5 ideas you think the City should consider.

Join us for the Pool Party of the summer at this year’s splashtastic Pooch Plunge!
Held on Saturday, September 7, a week after Nelson Pool closes to the public, the chlorine levels are dropped to make the pool dog-friendly and it becomes available for a dog-only swim before the pool closes down and is cleaned for the winter.
The pool has a beach-style shallow entry to allow dogs to walk into the water gradually, though dogs are also welcome to jump in off the deeper sides! Pawrents – sorry – this event is for the pooches only – due to the lowered chlorine levels, no humans are allowed into the water.
The inner pool area is fully fenced in, allowing for it to be designated as off-leash for the day. Our trusted volunteers will manage the gate entry to ensure no escapees!
In the outer pool area, please visit our local vendors, and check out our Info Booth to learn about all that we do at Burlington Humane while you wait for your timed slot.
